The 60 m length, 0.32 mm internal diameter and thick 5.00 µm film provide a long retention path and substantial stationary-phase capacity for suitable volatile and semi-volatile sample methods. A five-inch cage format addresses instrument installations that use the smaller column frame. DB-1 selectivity is governed largely by analyte volatility and nonpolar interactions; it should not be substituted directly for a polar wax or cyanopropyl phase without method evaluation.
