Agilent 47 mm hydrophilic nylon membranes with a 0.45 µm pore rating support routine clarification and solvent preparation for liquid chromatography. The loose membrane format is designed for a separate filtration holder, including the InfinityLab 47 mm solvent filtration assembly, rather than direct syringe attachment. Hydrophilic nylon allows filtration of compatible aqueous and organic solvent systems and is particularly useful for removing suspended particles from alkaline solutions where the solvent is suitable for polyamide. Compared with the finer 0.20 µm membrane, the 0.45 µm option is selected when the analytical method allows a larger nominal particle cutoff. Filtration helps reduce particulate contamination of LC pumps, check valves, capillaries and columns, but it does not remove dissolved ions or establish sterility. Review the solvent mixture for nylon compatibility, use clean filtration glassware, and replace membranes at the interval established by the method's contamination-control requirements. Supplied non-sterile as 100 separate membrane discs.
