The universal-fit FID jet is a replacement flame ionization detector nozzle with a specified internal diameter of 0.018 inch. In gas chromatography, an FID jet directs the column effluent and detector gas stream into the flame zone, where suitable organic analytes generate a measurable ion current. A clean, correctly mounted jet is important for reliable ignition, stable baseline response and consistent detector sensitivity. During maintenance, isolate detector gases, allow the heated assembly to cool and remove deposits using an approved cleaning procedure without enlarging or scratching the jet orifice. Match the universal-fit hardware arrangement to the installed FID configuration and use the correct sealing components. Following replacement, leak-check gas connections, verify ignition and examine baseline stability, response and noise with an appropriate performance standard.
