Answer:Ten Hypersil BDS-C18 guard cartridges, each with a 4 × 4 mm bed of 5 µm packing.
Answer:No. They are protective guard cartridges installed upstream of a compatible analytical column.
Answer:Matching reversed-phase chemistry helps protect the analytical bed while minimizing unexpected changes in retention or selectivity.
Agilent Hypersil BDS-C18 guard cartridges use 5 µm base-deactivated, endcapped C18 silica to protect compatible reversed-phase analytical columns from strongly retained sample components. Each short cartridge measures 4 × 4 mm and is supplied in a pack of ten. The small guard bed captures sample contamination ahead of the analytical separation, allowing planned cartridge replacement without discarding the full-length analytical column. These are guard cartridges for an appropriate cartridge holder, not complete HPLC analytical columns. Their packing should be selected to match the downstream column chemistry.
