The Agilent ZORBAX StableBond 300 C8 guard cartridge protects compatible reversed-phase HPLC analytical columns from particulate and strongly retained sample contaminants. Each cartridge contains 5 µm fully porous C8-bonded particles with 300 Å pores in a 4.6 × 12.5 mm format; four cartridges are supplied per package. The large-pore StableBond phase is commonly used in peptide and protein separations, and phase matching helps reduce unintended retention shifts between guard and analytical sections. The guard cartridge requires the corresponding hardware kit, which is not included as part of a bare cartridge package. Position the correctly assembled guard upstream of the analytical column, avoid excessive dead volume and check for leaks after installation. Monitor pressure and peak shape over time; a persistent rise in pressure can indicate contamination and the need for guard replacement. Choose operating pH, solvent composition and temperature within the stated limits for the full assembled system.
