Agilent ZORBAX RRHD StableBond C18 guard cartridges protect compatible reversed-phase UHPLC analytical columns from particulate contamination and strongly retained sample components. Each cartridge contains 1.8 µm fully porous SB-C18 particles in a 2.1 mm internal-diameter, 5 mm-long guard format; three guards are supplied per package. The bonded phase has an 80 Å pore structure and is designed for reversed-phase separations with a specified pH range of 0.8–8. The guard is rated to 1200 bar, permitting installation in appropriately configured low-dispersion UHPLC flow paths. Choose a guard phase and internal diameter that match the analytical column and method. Install upstream of the analytical column, control sample particulate load through appropriate pretreatment, and monitor pressure and retention behavior during routine operation. Replace the guard when pressure rises or peak shape deteriorates rather than repeatedly exposing the analytical column to contaminated samples.
