The FID collector body is a replacement mechanical component within the flame ionization detector assembly used on compatible Agilent 6890, 7890 and 8890 gas chromatographs. Positioned in the detector's ion-collection region, the collector assembly is part of the electrical path used to measure ions produced in the hydrogen–air flame. Routine detector servicing may involve inspection or replacement when deposits, damage or assembly wear compromise reliable operation. The replacement collector body should be installed with the correct insulators and fasteners using the prescribed detector service sequence, without touching critical surfaces or compromising electrical isolation. The ignitor glow-plug assembly and its cable are separate components and are not included as part of the collector body. After reassembly, verify leak-free gas delivery, flame ignition, electrical stability and representative chromatographic response.
