The Agilent universal external split-vent trap is an exhaust-line accessory for gas chromatographs equipped with a compatible split-vent connection. It captures hydrocarbons from suitable GC split-vent exhaust streams to help reduce contamination at the exhaust outlet. The supplied assembly includes a trap and three cartridges; the cartridge type is classified as hydrocarbon and does not contain a visual exhaustion indicator. The nominal trap diameter is 0.9 inch, length is 5.3 inches and specified trap capacity is 5 cc. It belongs in the split-vent exhaust arrangement, not in the clean carrier-gas supply path. Connect the device using compatible vent-line fittings and provide appropriate external ventilation, as adsorbent trapping does not replace laboratory exhaust controls. Replace the cartridges using the relevant maintenance guidance and laboratory safety procedures.
