Hach, 2309934, A-1 broth medium, dehydrated, 500 g

For customer preparation of microbiological media. A-1 Medium enables a single-step procedure for detecting fecal coliforms in 24 hours in non-potable water, wastewater, and food. No prior enrichment in a presumptive medium required. It is formulated to improve recovery of E. coli and help reduce false-positive cultures. The medium is designed to favor thermotolerant coliforms, particularly E. coli, through elevated incubation temperatures (typically 44.5 - 45.50 °C), which suppress non-target organisms. A positive reaction is indicated by gas captured in an inverted vial (Durham tube) or by dissolved gas that forms fine bubbles when the tube is gently agitated. Use with Durham tubes (Hach PN 2162800) to detect gas production. For confirmation of E. coli, use EC Medium with MUG.
