Freshwater Low Range Ammonia Colorimeter - Checker® HC is designed for compact, digital measurement of low-range ammonia nitrogen in freshwater. The handheld meter displays results across 0.00–3.00 ppm NH₃-N with a 0.01 ppm resolution and accuracy of ±0.05 ppm ±5% of the reading at 25 °C. It uses a 470 nm LED light source and silicon photocell to measure the yellow color formed during the Nessler-based ammonia reaction. This method provides a numeric colorimetric readout suitable for freshwater aquariums, environmental monitoring, water-quality education and other low-range aquatic measurements. The compact meter measures approximately 86 × 61 × 37.5 mm and weighs 64 g. It operates from 0–50 °C at up to 95% noncondensing relative humidity, uses a single 1.5 V AAA battery and shuts off after approximately ten minutes of inactivity. The supplied package includes two sample cuvettes with caps, starter ammonia reagents for 25 tests, a battery and operating instructions. Its measurement scale is ammonia nitrogen rather than an unspecified total-ammonia or seawater range.
