Description

The Biowelder®TC is an automated welder for connecting thermoplastic tubing in a sterile welding operation. This innovative new technology allows sterile connection of dry or liquid filled TPE tubing for outer diameters up to 1 inch. The Biowelder®TC produces TPE tubing welding through a thermal connection and ensures an excellent level of stability, guaranteeing a sterile connection.

The Biowelder®TC connects thermoplastic tubing (such as C-Flex®374, Tuflux®TPE, AdvantaFlex®, SaniPure®BDF™ and PharMed®BPT) used on disposable bags or bag assemblies within all biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Working Principle
To start using the Biowelder®TC automated tube welder, an operator inserts the tube holders, the disposable blade, and the TPE tubes and initiates the welding process via the touch screen. The blade is first heated for depyrogenation and then cooled to the welding temperature, with an infrared sensor controlling the temperature. After the blade cuts the tubes, the tube holder rotates, and a new connection is established.
Applications
Biowelder®TC can weld either dry, wet, or liquid-filled tubing in non-classified and classified environments while maintaining product sterility.

Application Note

Sartorius Biowelder TC disposable blades are single-use consumables for the automated thermoplastic tubing welding process performed by a compatible Biowelder TC instrument. A welding cycle uses a fresh blade to cut and thermally fuse compatible tubing ends within the controlled connection procedure. The blades are provided as a pack of 50; this item is not a complete tube welder, disposable tubing assembly or reusable cutting knife. The associated Biowelder TC system supports sterile welding operations on suitable thermoplastic elastomer tubing in appropriately configured single-use processing workflows, including tubing that is dry or liquid-filled. Blade compatibility, tube-holder dimensions and validated tubing conditions must be confirmed for the intended process. Follow the instrument operating procedure for blade loading and disposal to avoid compromised weld integrity or accidental handling injuries.
