Answer:It contains an embedded carbamate group that provides alternate selectivity, especially for phenolic compounds.
Answer:The column supports up to 18,000 psi (1240 bar) and a pH range of 2–11.
Answer:It uses 1.7 µm BEH hybrid particles with a 130 Å pore size in a 2.1 mm ID × 50 mm format.
ACQUITY UPLC BEH Shield RP18 Column, 130Å, 1.7 µm, 2.1 mm X 50 mm, 1/pk is used for high-efficiency reversed-phase UPLC and UHPLC method development when an embedded-polar-group phase can provide useful alternate selectivity. The column uses BEH hybrid particles with Shield RP18 bonding that incorporates an embedded carbamate group. This chemistry changes selectivity relative to straight-chain alkyl phases and is particularly useful for phenolic compounds. The spherical particles are 1.7 µm with a 130 Å pore size; the phase is endcapped, has low silanol activity, and carries a 17% carbon load. The 2.1 mm inner diameter × 50 mm format is designed for fast UPLC/UHPLC separations and supports pressures up to 18,000 psi (1240 bar). The pH range is 2–11, giving the phase broad method-development flexibility. This combination of sub-2 µm particles, hybrid substrate, embedded-polar-group selectivity, and high pressure tolerance makes the column suitable for rapid analytical methods that need both high efficiency and a selectivity profile different from standard C18 or C8 phases. The column also includes eCord functionality.
