Waters XBridge BEH C8 columns use an endcapped, trifunctionally bonded C8 phase on ethylene-bridged hybrid particles for robust reversed-phase HPLC separations. The analytical column measures 2.1 mm internal diameter by 150 mm length, with 5 µm particles and 130 Å pores. Its specified mobile-phase pH range is 1–12 and maximum operating pressure is 6000 psi, approximately 415 bar. Compared with the C18 version of the same family, the C8 phase generally provides lower hydrophobic retention, which can shorten analysis times for compounds that retain excessively on C18. The 2.1 mm bore supports reduced mobile-phase consumption when flow rates and system dispersion are appropriately scaled. Use well-prepared samples and compatible aqueous–organic solvents, then equilibrate the stationary phase before sample analysis. Check column pressure, retention and peak shape routinely, and select a method within the specified temperature, pH and pressure conditions. One analytical column is supplied.
