The Waters XBridge BEH Phenyl-Hexyl HPLC Column provides reversed-phase selectivity for analytes with aromatic or other hydrophobic structural features. Its 3 × 250 mm analytical bed contains 5 µm bridged ethylene hybrid particles with 130 Å pores and phenyl-hexyl bonded ligands. Aromatic compounds can interact with the phenyl surface in ways that differ from conventional C18 phases, supporting selectivity changes in method development. The hybrid particle platform also offers broad mobile-phase compatibility when used within the specified pH and pressure limits. Suitable applications include small-molecule profiling and the separation of related aromatic compounds whose retention patterns are not sufficiently resolved on a standard alkyl-bonded column. Choose an appropriate aqueous/organic mobile phase and gradient, then equilibrate thoroughly before assessing peak selectivity. Filter samples and solvents, protect against particulate loading and avoid prolonged exposure to incompatible conditions. This is a packed analytical LC column, not a phenyl guard cartridge or a size-exclusion chromatography medium.
