Waters ACQUITY Premier BEH C18 columns combine sub-2 µm reversed-phase chromatography with MaxPeak High Performance Surface hardware. The 2.1 × 100 mm column contains 1.7 µm BEH hybrid particles with 130 Å pores and a trifunctionally bonded, endcapped C18 stationary phase. Its specially treated hardware reduces unwanted interactions between metal-sensitive analytes and exposed metal surfaces, supporting more consistent peak shape and recovery for susceptible compounds. The hybrid packing provides a specified pH range of 1–12, and the maximum column pressure is 18,000 psi (1,240 bar). Use a UPLC system capable of operating within the complete flow-path pressure limit and equipped with compatible low-dispersion connectors. Prepare clean, fully soluble samples, and maintain the mobile-phase composition required by the analytical method. Evaluate performance using analyte recovery, peak tailing, retention reproducibility, resolution, and pressure rather than assuming all compounds benefit equally from surface treatment.
