Answer:It measures from 190 to 1100 nm using deuterium and tungsten light sources.
Answer:No. It uses a double-beam optical system with a sample and reference light path.
Answer:Quartz cuvettes are suitable for ultraviolet wavelengths; ordinary glass cuvettes are not appropriate for the full UV range.
The VWR UV-6300PC double-beam UV/visible spectrophotometer measures absorbance and transmittance across the 190–1100 nm wavelength range. Its deuterium and tungsten light sources cover ultraviolet and visible analyses, while the reference beam supports stable comparisons during spectral scans and quantitative assays. The instrument offers ±0.3 nm wavelength accuracy, ±0.002 A absorbance accuracy at 1 A, and an absorbance range of −0.3 to +3.0 A. Applications include nucleic acid and protein quantification, solution concentration measurements, wavelength scans, and reaction kinetics. The UV-Vis Analyst software supports computer-controlled analysis, data acquisition, and review of spectra. Select quartz cells for ultraviolet work, as ordinary optical glass does not transmit the full ultraviolet range. Clean cuvettes, matched blanks, appropriate dilution, and regular performance checks are essential for dependable results. The double-beam optical layout is particularly useful when tracking subtle spectral or time-dependent changes.
