PYROGENT® Plus Gel Clot LAL Assay provides qualitative detection of Gram-negative bacterial endotoxin by formation of a firm gel clot. This configuration supports 200 tests and has a sensitivity of 0.03 EU/mL. The kit includes matched control standard endotoxin together with four 50-test vials of lysate, eliminating the need to purchase the control separately. Testing is performed in depyrogenated 10 × 75 mm glass reaction tubes, typically with incubation at 37 °C followed by a 180° inversion of the tube. An intact clot indicates a positive endotoxin reaction, while flowing liquid indicates a negative result at the assay sensitivity. The simple tube-based workflow is useful for compendial endotoxin testing without sophisticated instrumentation or software.
