Lonza PowerCHO 2 is a chemically defined, serum-free basal powder medium designed for suspension cultivation of Chinese hamster ovary cells. This configuration supplies the basal powder required to prepare 10 L of medium, supporting upstream process development and recombinant protein production. The formulation is free of animal-origin components, serum, proteins and hydrolysates, helping laboratories work with more consistent defined inputs. PowerCHO 2 includes HEPES and Pluronic F-68 but does not contain L-glutamine, phenol red, hypoxanthine or thymidine. Suitable preparation requires the companion components and adjustments specified for the chosen PowerCHO 2 powder system; the basal powder is not a ready-to-use liquid medium. The medium supports dense CHO suspension culture and can be integrated into manufacturing development and related research workflows where chemically defined culture conditions are desirable.
