Answer:GelRed is supplied as a 10,000X concentrate in DMSO, in a 0.5 mL package.
Answer:The stain can visualize double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA and RNA in electrophoresis gels.
Answer:Store at room temperature away from light; cold storage may cause dye precipitation.
Merck GelRed is a concentrated fluorescent nucleic acid stain for visualizing DNA and RNA after electrophoretic separation. The 10,000X stock is supplied in DMSO in a 0.5 mL format and can be diluted for agarose or polyacrylamide gel staining workflows. GelRed supports imaging of double-stranded DNA, single-stranded DNA and RNA with ultraviolet transillumination near 302–312 nm and optical filter sets normally used for ethidium bromide, SYBR or GelStar detection. It is designed as an alternative to conventional ethidium bromide staining, although all laboratory dyes still require suitable chemical handling and disposal. Users can employ precast or post-staining protocols where validated for their gel systems. Dye concentration, gel thickness and exposure settings affect band brightness and background. Store the concentrated stain at room temperature protected from light; cooling may cause precipitation that should be resolved before preparing a working stain.
