Answer:The lamp supplies lead-specific hollow cathode emission for atomic absorption spectroscopy.
Answer:It is a 50 mm single-element Lumina hollow cathode lamp.
Answer:No. It is an optical source; lead calibration standards and sample preparation reagents are separate consumables.
PerkinElmer Lumina lead hollow cathode lamps produce the element-specific light needed for atomic absorption determination of lead. The single-element 50 mm HCL fits compatible PerkinElmer PinAAcle and AAnalyst AA spectrometers and supports lead analysis in digested environmental samples, food materials, industrial products, and other laboratory matrices. Hollow cathode lamps offer discrete atomic emission lines that can be selected by the spectrometer's monochromator for sensitive elemental absorbance measurements. Confirm lamp position, automatic identification, and the need for an adapter on older instruments before installation. Use the prescribed lead analytical line, slit width, lamp-current setting, and background correction for the validated method. Stable calibration and well-controlled preparation blanks are particularly important in low-level lead analysis, where contamination from labware or reagents can dominate uncertainty. After replacement, allow adequate stabilization and check calibration verification, signal noise, and control sample recovery before reporting sample results.
