The PerkinElmer auto-ignite wide-range flame ionization detector collector head assembly is a replacement component for compatible newer Clarus GC FID installations. Located above the flame region, the collector helps capture ions generated during combustion of organic compounds and directs the detector signal into the measurement electronics. Collector geometry, electrical cleanliness and correct positioning are important for reliable ion-current measurement and baseline stability. Damage, contamination or unsuitable assembly can reduce sensitivity or increase detector noise. This collector head is supplied as a detector subassembly rather than an entire FID; the jet, flame gas supply and electronic modules perform other functions. Compatibility must be checked carefully because this collector assembly is not suitable for legacy Clarus 500, 580, 600 or 680 instruments. Maintenance should be carried out only after safely shutting off detector gases and allowing the heated detector to cool, followed by ignition and signal-performance checks.
