Answer:Phenyl-hexyl ligands provide different aromatic and hydrophobic selectivity for related molecules.
Answer:100 × 2.0 mm, packed with 3 µm particles and 100 Å pores.
Answer:The Luna Phenyl-Hexyl phase is classified as USP L11.
The Phenomenex Luna Phenyl-Hexyl column is a 100 × 2.0 mm reversed-phase HPLC column packed with 3 µm particles and a 100 Å pore structure. Its bonded phenyl-hexyl ligands offer a selectivity profile different from octadecyl phases, making the column useful when aromatic compounds or close structural isomers are inadequately resolved on standard C18 media. Retention can involve hydrophobic interactions and aromatic selectivity that changes with mobile-phase composition. The column is suited to analytical development for aromatic drugs, related impurities and other small molecules with phenyl-containing structures. The narrow-bore format requires attention to extra-column tubing volume, detector-cell volume and sample solvent strength. Use filtered solvents, protect the column from particulate contamination and allow stable equilibration before evaluating critical peak pairs. Confirm operating solvent composition, pH and temperature against the stationary-phase limits during method transfer. This product is a complete USP L11 analytical LC column, not a separate guard holder or phenyl-functionalized sample-preparation sorbent.
