QIAGEN DNA Size Standard 550 (BTO) is a fluorescent internal size reference for capillary electrophoresis fragment analysis in forensic human-identification workflows. The BTO-labeled standard provides migration reference peaks that allow compatible genetic analysis software to assign base-pair sizes to amplified STR fragments. It is used with selected Investigator STR assay configurations and appropriate dye-channel calibration settings, where accurate fragment sizing is essential for interpreting allelic peaks. The 100-reaction package is a size-standard reagent rather than an allelic ladder, PCR amplification kit or conventional agarose-gel DNA ladder. Include the specified amount of size standard in each prepared electrophoresis sample, together with the required formamide or other sample-preparation components for the validated workflow. The instrument's spectral calibration must include the BTO dye channel; an unrelated dye-labeled standard cannot be substituted solely because it has a similar size range.
