Answer:It contains two 10 mL stainless-steel grinding jars and two 20 mm stainless-steel grinding balls.
Answer:The set is designed for the QIAGEN TissueLyser II for parallel mechanical disruption of two relatively large samples.
Answer:Hard biological materials such as bone and samples processed under liquid-nitrogen conditions are common applications, subject to the relevant protocol.
The QIAGEN stainless-steel Grinding Jar Set contains two 10 mL screw-closure jars and two 20 mm stainless-steel grinding balls for mechanical disruption of relatively large biological samples on the TissueLyser II. Each jar accepts approximately 4–10 mL of sample material and operates with one grinding ball to apply repeated impact during high-frequency shaking. Stainless-steel components are suitable for challenging hard samples such as bone, and for sample disruption under liquid-nitrogen conditions when the required preparation method permits. Running two jars together supports parallel handling of separate samples without transferring material between a series of small bead tubes. Proper jar closure, balanced loading and use of the specified adapter are essential for secure operation. This is a grinding-jar accessory kit, not a complete TissueLyser instrument; it is also distinct from the Teflon grinding-jar variant intended for other sample types.
