Sartorius Cellulose Acetate Membrane Filter Discs are large-diameter, hydrophilic membranes for pressure-driven filtration of compatible aqueous solutions and selected solvent mixtures. Each white, ungridded disc has a diameter of 142 mm, a 0.2 µm nominal pore size and a membrane thickness of approximately 120 µm. Cellulose acetate offers relatively low nonspecific adsorption compared with many other membrane chemistries, which can be useful for handling dissolved biological components. Fit the disc in an appropriate 142 mm filter holder, wet and seat the membrane correctly, and verify gasket condition before applying pressure. The membrane's recommended pH operating window is 4–8; solvent compatibility must be checked for each formulation. This product is supplied as 100 non-sterile bulk discs, so any sterile workflow needs a validated sterilization procedure. It is not a preassembled capsule, a cellulose nitrate membrane or a sterile individually wrapped filter.
