Sartorius, 11406--47------N, Cellulose Nitrate (CN) Membrane Filter

Sartorius Cellulose Nitrate Membrane Filters are 47 mm hydrophilic membrane discs with a 0.45 µm pore size and a white surface printed with a black grid. The mixed cellulose ester membrane combines particle retention with flow characteristics suitable for culture-based microbial enumeration. A visible grid provides reference squares for counting colonies after filtration, incubation and transfer to a compatible nutrient medium. The membrane format is useful for examining water, beverages and other testable liquid samples using a suitable 47 mm filtration holder. Record the filtered volume and dilution factor when calculating colony-forming units per sample volume. These membrane discs are supplied non-sterile in a package of 100; sterilize them using a validated procedure before microbiological testing requiring aseptic conditions. Avoid confusing this white, black-gridded cellulose nitrate membrane with a gridded cellulose acetate filter, an ungridded disc or a separately packaged sterile membrane.
