Alkoxyamine-activated biotinylation reagents such as this one are useful for biotin-labeling glycoproteins and other molecules that have oxidizable polysaccharides groups. EZ-Link Alkoxyamine-PEG-Biotin reagents contain a multi-functional extended spacer arm that is a flexible, non-immunogenic hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG), which imparts water solubility to labeled molecules. Consequently, antibodies labeled with biotin alkoxyamine reagents exhibit less aggregation when stored in solution compared to antibodies labeled with reagents having only hydrocarbon spacers. Highlights:
• Biotin– label macromolecules for detection or affinity purification with avidin and streptavidin
• Alkoxyamine-activated– reacts with aldehyde groups (e.g., oxidized sugars in glycoproteins) to attach biotin by stable oxime bonds
• Polyethylene glycol– PEG groups are flexible, non-immunogenic, hydrophilic, and improve the solubility of labeled antibodies
• Long spacer arm– the reach between the point of attachment and the biotin affinity tag is more than 55 angstroms, minimizing steric hindrance for binding Specifications:
