YMC-Pack ODS-A is a fully endcapped monomeric C18 reversed-phase column for small-molecule liquid chromatography. The 150 × 4.6 mm analytical bed is filled with 3 µm particles having 120 Å pores. Compared with the 5 µm ODS-A column of the same length and bore, the smaller particles provide a different efficiency and backpressure profile that should be considered during method transfer. The bonded phase is useful for pharmaceutical compounds, natural-product constituents and other polar to moderately nonpolar organic analytes. Its pore diameter and column geometry are separate specifications from the 300 Å ODS-A material intended for larger analytes.
