Answer:The analytical column is 4.6 × 250 mm with 5 µm cyano-bonded silica and 120 Å pores.
Answer:Yes. YMC-Pack CN supports both modes; choose compatible mobile phases and avoid frequent switching between modes.
Answer:The YMC-Pack CN phase is specified for pH 2–7.5 with a maximum temperature of 50°C.
YMC-Pack CN is an analytical HPLC column using a monomerically bonded, endcapped cyanopropyl stationary phase on silica. This configuration contains 5 µm particles with 120 Å pores in a 4.6 × 250 mm column. Intermediate polarity gives cyano chemistry distinct selectivity from conventional C18, C8 and bare-silica packings. The column can operate in either reversed-phase mode with polar aqueous-organic eluents or normal-phase mode with relatively nonpolar mobile phases. In reversed-phase separations, reduced hydrophobic retention may help elute strongly retained compounds; in normal-phase separations, the bonded cyano surface provides a more uniform alternative to bare silica. The general recommended operating pH range is 2–7.5, with a stated upper temperature limit of 50°C. Select one chromatographic mode for routine operation and avoid repeated switching between incompatible solvent systems. Equilibrate thoroughly and use mobile phases suitable for silica-based bonded phases.
