YMC Hydrosphere C18 is a reversed-phase analytical HPLC column developed for retaining polar compounds under highly aqueous mobile-phase conditions. Its 3 µm silica packing has 120 Å pores within a 150 × 4.6 mm column. The water-compatible C18 surface supports separations where highly polar analytes show inadequate retention on traditional hydrophobic reversed-phase materials. A 150 mm analytical bed combines conventional separation length with the higher efficiency potential of 3 µm packing. Hydrosphere C18 has different wetting and polar-retention characteristics from YMC-Pack Pro C18 and should remain separately identified when reproducing methods or screening bonded phases.
