|---|---|---|
| Typical Use Cases | Small-volume cell pellets, DNA/RNA preps, micro-organism cultures | Large-volume cell suspensions, media storage, sample pooling |
| Tube Dimensions | Approx. 120 mm height, 17 mm diameter | Approx. 115 mm height, 30 mm diameter |
| Centrifuge Compatibility | Fits standard rotor adapters for 15 mL | Fits standard rotor adapters for 50 mL |
| Sample Volume Range | 1.5–15 mL | 5–50 mL |
| Storage Efficiency | Ideal for limited bench space and small sample prep | Suitable for bulk storage and high-volume protocols |
| Cap Styles | CentriStar or plug seal | CentriStar or plug seal |
Selection Tip:
Choose 15 mL tubes for low-volume applications or when space is limited. Select 50 mL tubes for larger sample volumes, long-term storage, or when processing bulk reagents. Both options offer reliable sealing and compatibility with Corning accessories.
Selecting the right cap style can improve workflow efficiency and sample security. Corning offers both CentriStar and plug seal caps, each designed for optimal performance in various lab settings. Here’s how they compare in terms of ease of use, sealing reliability, and labeling convenience.
| Feature | CentriStar Cap | Plug Seal Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Ease of Use | Ergonomic, easy to open and close with one hand | Simple twist design, requires moderate force |
| Sealing Performance | Provides a secure, leak-resistant seal; minimizes hand fatigue | Reliable tight seal for secure sample containment |
| Labeling Area | Large, clear writing surface for sample ID | Standard cap area for labeling |
| Sterility | Certified sterile, DNase/RNase-free, non-pyrogenic | Certified sterile, DNase/RNase-free, non-pyrogenic |
| Applications | Routine lab work, high-throughput operations | Long-term storage, transport, critical containment |
Tip:
Choose CentriStar caps for daily lab workflows that require quick access and easy labeling. Opt for plug seal caps when secure sample retention is a top priority or for protocols requiring extended storage.
Corning centrifuge tubes are manufactured under strict quality standards to ensure the highest level of sample integrity. Each tube is certified sterile, non-pyrogenic, and free from detectable DNase and RNase, minimizing the risk of contamination in sensitive biological and clinical applications. These certifications make Corning centrifuge tubes a trusted choice for reliable sample processing and storage in research and diagnostic laboratories.
