Answer:Free fatty acids and other volatile organic acids benefit from the high-polarity, acid-modified stationary phase.
Answer:The column is 30 m × 0.25 mm ID with a 0.50 µm stationary-phase film.
Answer:The column is specified for temperatures up to 250 °C.
The Agilent J&W DB-FFAP capillary GC column uses a highly polar, acid-modified polyethylene glycol stationary phase designed for separation of free fatty acids and other organic acids. The 30 m × 0.25 mm fused-silica column carries a 0.50 µm film, providing retention and selectivity for polar volatile compounds. The column is supplied on a 7-inch cage for use in conventional capillary gas chromatographs. Acid-modified phase chemistry helps chromatographers analyze acidic compounds that can tail or show insufficient selectivity on general-purpose low-polarity columns. The nominal maximum operating temperature is 250 °C, so oven methods must remain within the specified temperature range. Sample cleanliness, inlet deactivation, carrier-gas quality and proper column conditioning all influence peak shape and service life. This column is particularly relevant to food, fermentation and chemical process analysis involving volatile acids, subject to method validation for each sample matrix.
