EasiCal PS-2 is a pre-prepared polystyrene molecular-weight calibration kit for gel permeation and size-exclusion chromatography in compatible organic solvent systems. The kit includes one pair of two different combs, each carrying ten detachable PTFE spatulas coated with polymer standards. Each spatula contains a mixture of five polystyrene molecular-weight standards, providing ten calibration molecular masses across the pair with nominal peak molecular weights from approximately 580 to 400,000 Da. Separate dissolution of the two spatula types yields solutions suitable for constructing a ten-point calibration curve from two chromatographic injections. Use a solvent compatible with the standards, column packing and detector, then prepare the calibration and unknown samples under consistent conditions. Conventional polystyrene-equivalent calibration does not directly establish absolute molecular mass for chemically different polymers.
