Answer:They are supplied sterile by gamma irradiation, with graduations and a writing area for sample identification.
VWR sterile polypropylene cryovials provide compact, individually usable containers for frozen laboratory specimens and sample archiving. The natural-color star-foot version has a nominal 1.0/1.2 mL capacity designation and measures approximately 12.4 mm in diameter by 41.5 mm high. Its shaped base supports placement in compatible holders while the screw-cap closure provides a mechanical seal for stored specimens. Polypropylene construction is intended for cryogenic conditions down to approximately –196 °C, with proper use in the appropriate vapor-phase storage system. The cryovials are gamma-irradiated and manufactured under controlled conditions, with RNase-, DNase- and pyrogen-free specifications. Graduations and a writable labeling area help link individual containers to sample identifiers. Selection should account for storage racks, cap type, thermal exposure and the validated procedure for the sample. Cryogenic vials should never be heated or opened immediately after rapid temperature changes without appropriate protection.
