Description
The Infliximab Biosimilar.rMAb is a research grade recombinant Human IgG1, κ monoclonal antibody that specifically recognizes human Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF). The Infliximab Biosimilar.rMAb is a recombinant chimeric IgG, κ monoclonal antibody comprised of mouse immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy and light chain variable regions derived from the therapeutic antibody Infliximab linked with human IgG1 heavy and Igκ light chain constant regions. Infliximab is used therapeutically to treat a wide variety of inflammatory conditions involving TNF such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn's disease, Bechet's disease, psoriasis, septic shock, cachexia, and cancer. Therapeutic Infliximab specifically binds to soluble and transmembrane TNF expressed by immune cells and neutralizes its biological activity by blocking the binding of the TNF ligand to its cell surface receptors. Infliximab binds to transmembrane TNF expressed on TNF-producing cells and can mediate their killing by antibody-dependent (ADCC) and complement-dependent (CDC) cytotoxicity. Infliximab does not bind to lymphotoxin (Tumor necrosis factor-beta; TNF-ß), a related TNF superfamily member. TNF, also known as TNF alpha (TNF-α) or Cachectin, is an ~26 kDa type II transmembrane protein that is encoded by TNF. TNF is a multifunctional cytokine involved in promoting cell proliferation, inflammation, immune system development, innate and adaptive immune responses, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and necrosis of some tumor cells. TNF is variably produced by a wide variety of activated leukocytes, epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and tumor cells. This mediator forms noncovalently bound homotrimers that are expressed on the cell surface. Membrane TNF is enzymatically cleaved from the cell surface by tumor necrosis factor alpha converting enzyme (TACE), also known as ADAM17 and CD156b, into a soluble biologically active trimer of the TNF extracellular domains. TNF mediates its biological activities through binding to cell surface TNF Receptor Type 1 (TNFR1, CD120a) and Type 2 (TNFR2, CD120b), which are widely expressed on normal hemopoietic and nonhemopoietic cells as well as tumor cells. The Infliximab Biosimilar.rMAb is intended for research use only. It is not intended for use in therapeutic or diagnostic procedures for humans or animals.
Store undiluted at 4°C. The monoclonal antibody was purified from tissue culture supernatant or ascites by affinity chromatography. This preparation contains no preservatives, thus it should be handled under aseptic conditions.
