The Corning Falcon 100 mm × 15 mm sterile bacteriological Petri dish is a general-purpose culture dish for agar plating, streak isolation, colony enumeration and routine microbiological observations. Its clear polystyrene construction supports inspection of bacterial growth and inhibition zones, while the 100 mm round format accommodates conventional laboratory plating procedures. The dish is supplied sterile and is not tissue-culture treated, so it is intended for bacteriological work rather than attachment-dependent mammalian cell culture. Each pack contains 20 dishes, with 500 dishes per case. Pour properly prepared sterile medium in an aseptic working area, control plate depth where test methods require it and avoid excessive condensation during storage and incubation. Use the appropriate medium and incubation conditions for the organism and method. The dish is disposable laboratory plasticware; reuse or re-sterilization is not assumed. Evaluate media quality and process controls when plates are used for quantitative microbiology or susceptibility testing.
