The Corning Falcon 150 mm × 15 mm sterile bacteriological Petri dish provides a large agar-plating area for microbial isolation, growth inspection and experiments requiring broad inoculation surfaces. The clear polystyrene dish is supplied without tissue-culture surface treatment, supporting bacteriological uses rather than routine attachment-dependent mammalian cell culture. Its 150 mm diameter allows larger inoculation fields or a greater number of separated colonies than the smaller Falcon bacteriological dish formats, subject to the method and medium volume. Each pack contains 10 sterile dishes and each case contains 100 dishes. Handle the dishes aseptically and choose agar depth, drying time and incubation conditions for the organism and analytical procedure. Large dishes may require more medium to achieve an equivalent layer depth, so medium consumption and incubator space should be considered during protocol planning. Sterility of the packaged dish does not guarantee sterility after opening, inoculation or preparation of the completed plate.
