The Corning® 40 µm cell strainer filters tissue preparations and cell suspensions through an evenly spaced nylon mesh to help obtain more uniform single-cell preparations. The blue, color-coded polypropylene frame fits widely used 50 mL conical centrifuge tubes and includes an extended lip for handling with forceps. Gamma-irradiated sterile strainers are supplied individually wrapped, with 50 pieces per case, for primary-cell isolation, flow cytometry preparation and cell culture handling. The 40 µm pore size removes larger aggregates and debris while allowing suitably sized cells to pass through. This is a disposable mesh strainer rather than a membrane sterilizing filter, and it is distinct from Corning's 70 µm white and 100 µm yellow versions.
