Cytiva CM Sepharose Fast Flow is a preparative weak cation exchange chromatography resin supplied as 500 mL of medium for laboratory and industrial protein purification. The matrix consists of cross-linked 6% agarose carrying carboxymethyl functional groups. These weak acidic ligands provide charge-dependent interactions with positively charged biomolecules under suitable buffer pH and conductivity. The resin can support capture or intermediate purification and can be packed into an appropriate chromatography column rather than being supplied as a ready-to-run prepacked cartridge. Process development should establish sample loading conditions, binding capacity, washing selectivity and elution gradients for each target. Monitor bed packing and pressure-flow behavior when scaling from laboratory work to larger columns. Cleaning-in-place conditions must remain compatible with the resin and the complete hardware assembly. This material is distinct from strong cation exchangers with sulfonate ligands and from size-exclusion Sepharose media, despite sharing a related agarose platform.
