Answer:Hydrophobic PTFE membrane, nominal 1.0 µm pores, with FNPT connections at both ends.
Answer:Five nonsterile capsule filters per pack.
Answer:No. It is a nominal 1.0 µm filtration capsule and should not be claimed as sterilizing grade.
Whatman Polycap TF 36 capsule filters provide in-line particle removal from compatible gas and solvent streams using a hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane enclosed in a polypropylene housing. This nonsterile 36-series capsule has a nominal 1.0 µm pore size and female national pipe thread (FNPT) connections at both inlet and outlet. Five capsules are supplied per pack. PTFE offers broad chemical resistance for many organic solvents and chemically aggressive media, while the hydrophobic membrane is suitable for designated air and gas filtration duties. The relatively open 1.0 µm rating is intended for particle management rather than validated sterilizing-grade filtration. Check solvent compatibility for the complete capsule construction, not only the membrane, and select suitable threaded fittings and seals. Precondition or wet the hydrophobic membrane only when required by the validated liquid-filtration procedure. Before use, inspect for mechanical damage and confirm that the proposed pressure, temperature and cleaning/sterilization conditions satisfy the applicable manufacturer's limits.
