Answer:It is a prepared modified Giemsa staining solution supplied as 500 mL of liquid reagent.
Answer:The formula is listed as 0.4% (w/v) in a buffered methanol solution near pH 6.8 with stabilizers.
Answer:Appropriately fixed and prepared blood, cell or microbiological specimens can be evaluated using a validated Giemsa staining procedure.
Modified Giemsa stain is a ready-to-use staining solution for differential visualization of cellular structures in microscopy and hematological or microbiological examinations. Its thiazine–eosinate dye system produces contrasting staining patterns that help identify nuclei, cytoplasmic features and selected microorganisms when a suitable procedure is followed. The 500 mL formulation contains 0.4% (w/v) stain in buffered methanol solution near pH 6.8 with stabilizers. Use appropriately prepared and fixed specimens, control staining time and rinse conditions, and examine positive and negative controls for consistent color development. Because the solution contains methanol, follow appropriate chemical handling and ventilation requirements. This product is a staining reagent, not a live-cell fluorescent label or a ready-to-use diagnostic interpretation system.
