Answer:It uses a hydrophobic PTFE membrane with a nominal pore size of 0.2 µm.
Answer:It is a four-inch Optiseal cartridge, not a standard ten-inch filter element.
Answer:No. It is a replacement filter cartridge; the compatible housing and process connections are separate items.
Merck Optiseal Aervent cartridge combines a 0.2 µm hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane with a four-inch cartridge format for process gas filtration and vent service. The hydrophobic membrane permits passage of air and compatible gases while resisting wetting by aqueous liquids under the applicable operating conditions. Its filtration characteristics suit sterile gas filtration applications when the assembled process, housing and installation are properly qualified. The cartridge uses Optiseal-compatible mounting and sealing features rather than a generic 10-inch cartridge configuration. PTFE membrane construction contributes chemical compatibility across a range of gas-service applications, but process temperature, pressure and sterilization requirements must be checked against the complete system specifications. The part is the replaceable filtration cartridge; an Optiseal housing, connections and ancillary components are separate. Performance claims should be associated with the specified membrane and the validated operating conditions of the full assembly.
