Answer:A fluorescent oligothiophene ligand used to visualize selected amyloid and protein-aggregate structures, not a tau-specific antibody.
Answer:Excitation near 405 nm and emission near 550 nm are reported starting points for imaging setup.
Answer:No. Aggregate binding and signal interpretation require appropriate controls and independent target-specific validation.
Millipore BioTracker pFTAA is a conjugated oligothiophene fluorescent probe used in research into misfolded protein aggregates, including tau-associated neurofibrillary structures and amyloid-related deposits. Its fluorescence response to aggregate-associated molecular environments supports imaging and comparison of selected amyloid structures in research specimens and compatible live-cell workflows. Characteristic reported excitation and emission wavelengths are approximately 405 nm and 550 nm, but spectral response, background and optimum acquisition settings depend on the sample and imaging system. The dye is not a target-specific monoclonal antibody and cannot independently establish tau pathology or distinguish all amyloid species in every biological matrix. Include untreated and appropriate positive/negative controls, optimize staining concentrations experimentally and assess photobleaching and nonspecific background. Suitable workflows include fluorescence microscopy of research models investigating protein aggregation and conformational disease biology. Maintain dye handling conditions to avoid moisture, light and solvent-related changes, and follow the product safety and storage guidance for the supplied batch.
