Answer:This model has a nominal 400 mL volume.
Answer:It accommodates a 76 mm membrane, providing approximately 41.8 cm² of filtration area.
Answer:No. It requires an appropriately selected membrane and a suitable pressure source for ultrafiltration or diafiltration.
Merck Amicon Stirred Cell is a reusable 400 mL laboratory ultrafiltration device for pressure-driven concentration and diafiltration of macromolecular solutions. The stirred design reduces concentration polarization at the membrane surface as proteins and other retained solutes become concentrated. The 400 mL unit provides an effective membrane filtration area of approximately 41.8 cm² and accommodates a 76 mm membrane. It can support protein concentration, desalting and buffer-exchange operations when paired with a membrane of the appropriate molecular-weight cutoff or pore specification. The unit is not a complete filtration setup by itself: suitable membranes and a compatible pressure supply are required. The pressure limitation is 5.2 bar (75 psi), and operating parameters should reflect membrane compatibility and sample stability.
