Description
MACS® UltraMounts
With the new MACS UltraMounts you can harness the power of the UltraMicroscope Blaze like never before. You can image up to 48 organoids, 12 xenografts or 8 mouse brains in a single run.
The new MACS UltraMount 48 features 48 positional wells sized 3 mm × 3 mm × 3 mm (w × d × h), while the MACS UltraMount 12 and UltraMount 24 feature 12 and 24 positional wells sized 7 mm × 7 mm × 5 mm (w × d × h), respectively. Of notice, the MACS UltraMount 24 must be used in combination with the XXL chamber for UltraMicroscope Blaze. Finally, the MACS UltraMount 8 is dedicated for imaging of up to 8 whole mouse brain samples. Each of the wells contains a clamp that ensures firm mounting of the specimens, even when sample dimensions vary. Each well has a width range of 8-10 mm, and a height of 7 mm, extendable to 14 mm with the dedicated extension barrier.
All MACS UltraMount holders have open sides to enable optimal light sheet illumination of your samples. Some of the designs enables you to perform tissue labeling and clearing while your samples are loaded into the holders, so you can batch both tissue clearing and imaging into one easy workflow. You can find a sample prep protocol for staining and clearing of samples embedded in the MACS UltraMount 48 in the Available protocols section below.
Furthermore, each UltraMicroscope Blaze™ comes with standard MACS® UltraMounts Template Masks, enabling you to quickly and reliably set up batch modes to image your samples, acquisition parameters, and then let the automation of the UltraMicroscope Blaze™ take it from there. You will find an application protocol guiding you through the batch measurement setup process in the Available protocols section below.
Using MACS UltraMounts in combination with MACS® Clearing Kit or MACS® Deep Clearing Kit and the Miltenyi 3D-IF validated antibodies, you have end-to-end tested protocols for fast and reliable tissue preparation prior to imaging.
Available protocols as well as editable templates are available in the Resources section.
LightSpeed Mode
The LightSpeed Mode is available as an add-on for new systems and as an upgrade package for existing UltraMicroscope Blaze Systems.

Chambers and sample holders for UltraMicroscope Blaze
The standard cuvette of the UltraMicroscope Blaze (5.0 cm × 18.3 cm × 6.4 cm, w × d × h) allows convenient imaging of multiple rodent organs or organoids at the same time, for a total imaging volume of 35 cm3. In addition to this, the XXL chamber (7.1 cm × 20.0 cm × 6.4 cm, w × d × h) is a valuable upgrade for both new and existing UltraMicroscope Blaze Imaging Systems. It provides the largest possible sample space and enables imaging of samples up to an imaging volume of 53 cm3.
To further increase the versatility of the Ultramicroscope Blaze™, a selection of application-oriented 3D printed sample holders is also available. These holders are characterized by a clamping mechanism that ensures a tight adhesion to the sample arm, hence ruling out sample movement artefacts during image acquisition. For a detailed view of which chambers and sample holders are available, check the Data and images Section
Overview
The boundaries of 3D imaging can be expanded with a wide range of accessories and upgrades for the UltraMicroscope Blaze™ System.
