Biowelder® Total Containment is an automated system for sterile connection of compatible thermoplastic tubing in bioprocess and cell-processing workflows. The welder can join dry or liquid-filled TPE tubing and supports outer diameters up to 1 inch across several validated ID/OD combinations. A typical weld takes approximately 1.5–2.5 minutes depending on tubing size and material. The closed welding process is used for media preparation, buffer preparation, cell harvest, downstream intermediates, purification, and final-filling workflows where maintaining a closed fluid path is important. The instrument operates from a 100–240 V, 47–63 Hz power supply. Using automated tube welding can replace manual open connections and reduce the number of conventional fittings required in single-use process assemblies.
