Description

Because media powders tend to float, a strong vortex is required for their downward entrainment to the impeller and their subsequent dissolution.
The strong vertical vortex of Flexel®for Magnetic Mixer combined with the baffle effect of the cubical design allows for instant downward movement and efficient dissolution of floating powders. The high torque provides a fast dissolution of media powders and an efficient mixing of high concentration buffers or viscous products.
For downstream intermediate purification and drug substance/product formulation, we recommend using the Low Shear Flexel®for LevMixer®.

Question: Can the 50 L bag simply replace a 650 L bag?

Answer:No. Support hardware, working volume and mixing performance must be qualified for the specific bag size.

Application Note

The Sartorius Flexel 50 L single-use Magnetic Mixer bag is a compact process fluid mixing chamber configured with silicone tubing and without sensors or a drain valve. It fits the small-volume end of the predesigned Magnetic Mixer bag range, supporting preparation and blending of development-scale buffers and media where contact with reusable vessel walls is undesirable. A magnetic-drive impeller transfers mixing energy through the flexible bag assembly while retaining a disposable fluid path. Choose the approved holder and drive for the 50 L design, then check the bag's positioning, film integrity, tubing and connection security before filling. Optimize the fill level, powder addition sequence and mixing duration for the solution's viscosity and dissolution behavior. Evaluate homogeneity, shear sensitivity and foam formation under the actual process conditions. The silicone-only tubing configuration should not be confused with the similarly sized silicone/TPE option or the larger process-scale variants.
