Answer:It uses a phenyl-bonded reversed-phase stationary phase with aromaticity-related selectivity.
Answer:The column measures 4.6 × 50 mm, uses 1.8 µm particles and is rated to 600 bar.
Answer:Not necessarily. Phenyl selectivity differs from C18, so retention order and mobile-phase conditions may need optimization.
Agilent ZORBAX RRHT StableBond Phenyl is a reversed-phase HPLC column with 1.8 µm fully porous silica particles in a 4.6 × 50 mm format. The phenyl-bonded stationary phase provides aromaticity-related selectivity, including pi–pi interactions that can change the separation order of aromatic compounds relative to conventional C18 phases. The short column bed offers a compact format for method screening and rapid analyses where phenyl chemistry is useful. This column has a specified 600 bar pressure rating, 80 Å pores and a pH range of 1–8, subject to operating-temperature restrictions. It can support development of methods for pharmaceutical, food, environmental and other analytical samples containing aromatic compounds. StableBond Phenyl is not a C18 phase, so established C18 methods may require mobile-phase redevelopment.
