Avantor VWR ACE Excel C18 analytical HPLC column is packed with 3 µm silica-based octadecyl-bonded particles in a 4.6 × 250 mm format. The 100 Å pore phase supports reversed-phase analysis of small organic molecules and pharmaceuticals across a range of hydrophobicities. The long 250 mm packed bed provides separation efficiency for complex samples, while the 4.6 mm internal diameter accommodates conventional analytical HPLC flow ranges. C18 retention increases with analyte hydrophobicity and is adjusted through organic-modifier content, gradient profile, pH and temperature. Analytical methods may use the column for assay, related-substance profiling and compound characterization after appropriate sample preparation. Guard-column selection and mobile-phase filtration help control contamination and preserve the main column. This specific configuration has a 3 µm particle size and a 4.6 mm bore; other ACE Excel C18 dimensions are separately ordered variants.
