Bio-Rad Aminex HPX-87C is a prepacked calcium-form HPLC column designed for carbohydrate analysis in food, beverage, and laboratory testing workflows. The 300 × 7.8 mm configuration contains 9 µm sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene resin with 8% crosslinkage. It supports monosaccharide separations, measurement of glucose and fructose in high-fructose corn syrup, and selected separations of di-, tri-, and tetrasaccharides. The calcium-form packing combines ion-moderated partition, ligand-exchange, and size-exclusion interactions. The recommended operating pH range is 5–9. This full-length analytical format differs from the narrower 250 × 4.0 mm column within the HPX-87C family. The packed column is intended for HPLC carbohydrate analysis rather than reversed-phase separation or bulk-resin packing.
